WHAT ARE ECOBRICKS?
An Ecobrick is a PET bottle (aka your typical plastic bottle) that is packed with clean and dry used plastic.
WHY MAKE ECOBRICKS?
When plastics are disposed in the environment and their surface area is exposed to sun, water, and friction, they can eventually degrade into microplastics and toxins. This process is harmful to the environment because ecological cycles are disrupted by the emission of greenhouse gases, methane, and ethylene.
By placing used plastics, including your old phone cases, into a PET bottle, these negative environmental effects are prevented. Packing plastics tightly into a PET bottle greatly minimizes the exposed surface area which indefinitely avoids

various forms of degradation.
Ecobricks can then be put to great long-term and indefinite use by becoming building blocks for the creation of furniture, parks, and structures!

HOW ARE ECOBRICKS TURNED INTO FUNCTIONAL PIECES?
Various methods are used to build ecobricks into furniture, structures, and more. One method is earth building where ecobricks and earth are combined to prevent the degradation of the ecobricks and result in the construction of outdoor stools and tables.
