Sproos Creatives As Told By Founder Ina Martelino

Sproos Team Members Ina Martelino, Malek Zarroug, and Palmo Jackson

Sproos is a creative studio, specializing in creating content.
Most of our world revolves around photography and product styling, but we're slowly branching out into videography, production design and hopefully furniture design down the line!

HOW HAS YOUR CONTENT STUDIO EVOLVED OVER THE YEARS AND HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE CONCEPT OF SPROOS SPOTLIGHT? DO YOU THINK YOU'LL BE OFFERING IT AGAIN IN THE FUTURE?

Our studio has grown tremendously over the pandemic, which we are extremely lucky to be able to say. We launched Sproos Spotlight over the initial lockdown, which was a free (and I mean absolutely free of charge) content service that aimed to help small business market their products over the lockdown/pandemic. We would ask them to send their products over to our houses, where we would shoot photos for them to use. We occasionally do random giveaways to keep this initiative alive - so follow us!!

Sproos Spotlight is what catapulted our growth, and we've just kept going from there! We are so so lucky and so grateful to have been able to build this community and can't wait to see where it goes.

WHAT'S THE BEST PART OF RUNNING A CREATIVE STUDIO?

Every day is different, and so much fun. Our team is small but very tight knit and we each specialize in unique parts of our creative process. We are constantly learning, and face different challenges every day, which really helps with growth.

We are also fortunate to be able to connect with so many different people - clients (old and new), and other creatives which is a lot fun too!

WHAT ARE SOME CHALLENGES YOU'VE FACED AS A SMALL BUSINESS?

Oh there are a ton of challenges we face daily - both Sproos as a business, and me and as an entrepreneur. I speak about this very openly - owning a business is TOUGH and takes a lot of grit and emotional strength, especially in the growth stages. Growing pains are real.

I would say the biggest challenge we face as a creative team is avoiding burn out. It sometimes gets complicated when your art form is also your job, and business and you are forced to do it 5 days a week (sometimes 7 for me, but that's just the reality of being an entrepreneur!). Time management is definitely a necessary skill, learning to balance work and life is key to preventing burnouts, and this is something we work hard on practicing as a team.

WHAT CONTENT CREATION TIPS DO YOU HAVE FOR SMALL BUSINESSES AND CONTENT CREATORS?

Have fun with it, and be genuine. There are no strict rules to creating content, you just have to know your market and what they want to see. Take that information, and mix in your own personal unique style and voice -- there you have it. If anyone of you reading this needs help with that, we're here! hehe
